At Fundación Tierra Austral, we are very glad to communicate the sing of a new Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement in Los Lagos Region.
This is La Junta, a 45-hectare area located in a strategic area of the Cochamó Valley that will now be protected forever.
Thanks to this agreement, we will help safeguard part of the Temperate Rainforests of the Southern Andes Biosphere Reservea UNESCO-designated protected area spanning the Los Ríos and Los Lagos regions.
Also, it is important to highlight that one of the conservation values of this area is the presence of evergreen forest, one of the 25 priority regions for global diversity conservation.
With this new agreement, Fundación Tierra Austral now oversees 16 privately protected areas across Chile, permanently conserving more than 21,600 hectares between the Valparaíso and Los Lagos regions.
It is a key milestone to contribute to the protect of this ecosystems!
