Protected Areas / Parque Quizapu
This conservation area is home to a diversity of ecosystems typical of the Mediterranean mountain range, including native forests, ravines, and watercourses. Notable species include the naranjillo, the Andean cypress (ciprés de la Cordillera), and the Maulino oak (roble maulino), as well as fauna such as the puma, the Pampas cat (colocolo), the burrowing parrot (tricahue), and Garín's lizard.
One of the park's main attributes is its strategic location: it borders the Altos de Lircay National Reserve, promoting connectivity between ecosystems and allowing species to move freely across a broader territory. Thus, the protection of Quizapu helps maintain a continuous and functional landscape for the biodiversity of the Maule mountain range. In addition, it includes scientific research and environmental education activities.
