Approaching Summit

Creating a Management Plan for the Developing the Parque La Giganta.

Together with the owners of the Parque La Giganta private protected area, and our colleagues from the Photosintesis ecological consulting firm, members of the Tierra Austral team embarked on an trek to the summit of Cerro La Giganta — reaching an impressive altitude of 1,550 meters!

 This climb was a key part of a collaborative effort to create a Management Plan for Parque La Giganta. The plan will guide conservation efforts and the sustainable management of this unique ecosystem, which is protected with a Derecho Real de Conservación agreement. Major goals of the plan include protecting biodiversity, restoring degraded areas, and implementing management practices that will ensure the long-term health of this remarkable landscape.

Through a participatory and collaborative process, we are identifying opportunities for and challenges to creating a roadmap for the sensitive long-term management of La Giganta as place where visitors can gather, learn from contuinue to protect the park for generations to come.
